Who and what is baby•bot anyway?

I’ll start by telling you that I am a proud mom, and a graphic designer. My first son, Liam, was about 2 when I became pregnant again. Liam was very excited about becoming a big brother and was eager for the little guy, (yes, 2 boys), to come out and play.

I wanted to help Liam be as excited and prepared as I could — especially when I realized he thought a child of about 15 months was going to pop out and ask to play legos.

The first step I took was to talk about what it was like to be a big brother. We started at bed time... my husband and I would tell Liam adventure stories of a boy and his new baby brother. We eased into it and "storied" how at first, it seemed like the baby just cried and kept mommy busy, (boring). But then the baby grew, and the big brother helped him to learn how to talk and walk. Then ride a bike. Then to drive. Then went to college and got married. Finally, they went on vacation to Costa Rica. How exciting and important it was to be a big brother; and what a full life they could share. Liam loved these stories and asked for more and more.

When someone asked if I was pregnant, Liam would chime in; “I'm going to be a BIG BROTHER”. That is where inspiration sparked. I wanted to give him a badge he could wear out and about, so I created the 1st Big Brother t-shirt. I think by the end of my pregnancy I had created 5 designs in all.

That was my only intention with them, but then on a trip Liam and his daddy took together several people asked them where they could buy the shirt. That is how Baby•Bot was born. He's a cute little fellow, drawn by my dear Liam who inspired it all.

I hope you like the shirts. There will be more designs to come in the future, so please stay tuned. And if you have sibling stories you'd like to share, please email me. I'd love to hear them.

Danielle
